Safety Deontai Williams (8) talks with reporters following practice in Hawks Championship Center on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Husker head coach Scott Frost announced Monday that junior safety Deontai Williams will be out indefinitely with a shoulder injury.

“Deontai’s had a shoulder surgery and is done for the foreseeable future,” Frost said.

Williams was injured in the first half of the Huskers’ 35-21 win over South Alabama on Aug. 31.

Last season for the Huskers, Williams tallied 23 tackles, a forced fumble, and two interceptions. Williams, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, transferred to Nebraska in 2018 from Jones County Community College in Mississippi.
