vball vs. Santa Clara

Husker outside hitter Capri Davis (9) hits the ball against Santa Clara at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Sept. 1, 2018, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Sophomore outside hitter Capri Davis will take an indefinite leave of absence, Nebraska volleyball announced on Wednesday night.

The leave is due to medical issues and is effective immediately.

The Mansfield, Texas native played in nine of Nebraska’s first 17 matches of the season. She missed six matches in the season battling injury and illness, per the official statement.

In her limited play, she had 38 kills, 12 blocks and 11 digs.

As a freshman, Davis started three matches and played in 26 matches. She had a career-high 18 kills in a win over No. 14 Creighton, and had four kills in Nebraska’s NCAA Semifinal match against No. 3 Illinois.

In the 2018 NCAA Championship match against No. 1 Stanford, she hit .500 and had five kills in the loss.

Prior to her time at Nebraska, Davis was an Under Armour first-team All-American and was ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect by PrepVolleyball.com.
