Nebraska women’s basketball player Hannah Whitish was named first-team All-Big Ten by conference coaches on Monday, Oct. 22. The junior guard from Barneveld, Wisconsin, is among 12 Big Ten players to receive the honor.
Whitish was the lone Husker honored by the coaches in preseason voting.
As a sophomore, Whitish led Nebraska in both scoring and assists with 12.6 points per game and 4.7 assists per game.
She owned a two-to-one assist-to-turnover ratio as a point guard and also ranked among the the Big Ten’s best three-point shooters.
Whitish helped lead Nebraska to the nation’s top turnaround in the win column last season, with 21 wins in 2017-18 compared to seven in 2016-17.
She was also named second-team All-Big Ten at the end of the 2017-18 season and helped lead the Huskers to the NCAA tournament.
Whitish and Nebraska play the first game of the season on Nov. 7, against Drake at Pinnacle Bank Arena at 7 p.m. The Huskers play an exhibition match with the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
