Fans at the Nebraska Coliseum cheer for the three national championship banners hanging from the rafters.

They appreciate the many Big 12 Conference titles draped from the ceiling.

They understand what it takes to fill the red bleachers all the way up to the old brick walls.

Fans at the Nebraska Coliseum love the game of volleyball.

"My favorite thing about the fans is that they know volleyball," said freshman Megan Pendergast. "When the other team makes a good play our fans cheer because they are cheering for good volleyball. When we make a good play, they cheer louder."

"It's not stands full of people who come because they think it's a good time, it's people who love volleyball and love this team," she said.

The Huskers haven't dropped a match at the Coliseum in almost five years. Nebraska has gone undefeated season-long in the building 11 times since 1990.

This year's Red-White game was sold out for the first time ever, showing how much Nebraska fans appreciate this team.

"If God made a volleyball gym, it is the Coliseum," said NU coach John Cook. "This is done right, and there is great tradition here. It's one of the best venues to watch a college event."

The No. 3 Huskers will welcome in-state opponent Creighton to the Coliseum tonight at 7. The Bluejays are coming off a weekend split, defeating Texas Tech on Friday and losing to No. 10 Illinois during the Bluejay Invitational on Saturday.

Nebraska expects the 4,030-seat stadium to be filled to the brim with red and white.

"There are literally times where you can feel the floor shaking," Cook said. "Your ears ring for a couple of days afterward. That is how loud it gets."

The players are excited for the season to get started at the Coliseum, a place that holds so many moments of history.

"On a daily basis, when you walk into practice, you stand there and just look around; it makes you really think about what you are doing," Pendergast said. "You really respect this program. It means a lot to everyone in the gym every time they walk in."

NU is 11-0 all-time against the Bluejays, only dropping one set in the process. When the Huskers take the floor tonight, the fans will be cheering louder than ever, looking to make that record 12-0.

"(It's so loud) we can't talk at timeouts, but (the players) know they got a little over 4,000 people pulling for them," Cook said. "I know they love that."
