Nebraska senior outfielder Tristen Edwards was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday for her performance in the Troy Cox Classic over the weekend.
In the tournament, the Huskers competed in five games, all of which Edwards started in. She led the team at the plate, going 7-for-16 (.438) with nine runs and five RBIs, while also earning an on-base percentage of .550. Edwards also slugged 1.313 with two doubles and four home runs, which raises her career home run total to 35. Her six extra-base hits put her up to a career total of 70.
Edwards’ performance through the weekend also places her sixth in school history for career home runs and eighth for extra-base hits.
This is the fourth time Edwards has been named Big Ten Player of the Week in her career, with her last award coming in February of 2019. The team’s next game will be against Georgia Tech on Feb. 14 in Atlanta.
