Redshirt freshman defensive back C.J. Smith has decided to transfer from the Nebraska football program after one season with the Huskers.
Smith’s departure is another loss for Nebraska’s defensive backfield as freshman Cam’Ron Jones transferred earlier in the offseason.
Smith’s freshman season ended quickly as he only played two games and had a season injury against Northwestern.
His brother, Tre’Quan Smith, was a wide receiver at the University of Central Florida under Frost and advised his brother to follow Scott Frost. Smith was one of the Florida recruits to come with Frost to Nebraska.
