Nebraska Football will host Akron at Memorial Stadium on Sept. 6, 2025 as announced by the Nebraska Athletic Department Monday.
The game was scheduled to make up for the cancelled home-opener in 2018.
Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos said he is appreciative of the opportunity for the two schools to meet again in the future.
“We are pleased to finalize an agreement with Akron that is beneficial for both institutions,” Moos said in a press release. “We have had good dialogue with Akron during this process and are appreciative of the cooperation and patience from everyone involved. We look forward to Akron making a return trip to Memorial Stadium in 2025.”
Akron will receive $1.45 million for the schedule game in 2025, as part of the finalized agreement. Nebraska will pay Akron $650,000 for the game cancelled in September as part of the 2014 contract that guaranteed Akron $1.17 million for the match-up in Lincoln.
The 2025 Akron game will be the home-opener for the Huskers as the first game of the season will be at Illinois on Aug. 30, 2025.
Nebraska also has a non-conference game scheduled at Cincinnati the following week on Sept. 13, 2025, with one remaining non-conference opening.
