Former Nebraska football head coach Bo Pelini is no longer on payroll as the athletics department distributed its final monthly severance payment of $128,009 on Wednesday, according to an Omaha World-Herald article.
Pelini has received $6.54 million from the athletic department after he was fired by former athletic director Shawn Eichorst on Nov. 30, 2014. Nebraska no longer has any former coaches or athletic directors left on its payroll. The athletics department paid off former head Mike Riley, along with Eichorst, with lump sums last November.
Pelini coached Nebraska for seven season from 2008-14 and was 67-27 overall. Pelini’s teams reached a bowl game every season. His contract buyout was mitigated when he was hired to be the head coach at Youngstown State at the FCS level, where he is 27-22 overall after four seasons with the program.
