Huskers v. Ragin’ Cajuns game statistics

Rex Burkhead
Burkhead wasn't the feature back in Saturday night's 55-0 win over Louisiana-Lafayette,

but he opened up several eyes in different ways. A shovel-pass that he took for a

touchdown, combined with great punt returns, show the true freshman is ready for the

spotlight, which is a welcome sight for Roy Helu Jr. and the rest of the team.

Larry Asante
Though Asante only had two tackles and was held out more than two quarters due to a

minor ankle injury, he did something Saturday night that NU sorely needed: On the

Ragin' Cajuns' longest drive of the game in the second quarter, Asante jumped a Chris

Masson pass and took it back 74 yards for a score. It was the first time a Husker

defensive back had taken one to the house since Fabian Washington in 2002.

The Fans
This game ball goes to the 86,360 fans who attended Nebraska's record 300th sellout

and also to those fans who attended any of the 299 games that came before. These

fans commonly gave up their Saturdays, came hours early, stayed late during the

laughers and remained respectful every step of the way. It wouldn't be Memorial

Stadium without all the screaming people dressed in red. Hopefully, this is not the

capstone of this great achievement, but rather a milestone marker for the Husker faithful

as the games go forward.
