The first recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week award was announced Tuesday, and given to sophomore Elyse Huber. The announcement came following a strong performance at the Rock Chalk Invitational, hosted by the University of Kansas.
The sophomore forward out of Sioux City, Iowa, scored half of Nebraska’s six goals over the course of two games. On Friday, Aug. 18, she scored the first goal of her career in a 3-0 win over Kansas. Huber continued her momentum into Sunday’s game, where she scored two more goals against Tulsa, resulting in an NU win 3-1. In both games she had a combined four shots on goal and scored on three of them.
Huber will look to continue her strong play in front of the first home crowd of the season in Nebraska’s next two games at Hibner Stadium, playing South Dakota at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, and Missouri at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.
