Nebraska's Maurice Washington (28) runs the ball during a game against University of South Alabama at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Nebraska sophomore running back Maurice Washington III is currently being processed in California for charges of distributing child pornography and sending “revenge porn.”

Washington’s case has been continued for a new preliminary setting date on Oct. 17 according to a spokesperson for Santa Clara County Superior Court in California.

The “preliminary examination setting” was scheduled for Tuesday morning, but has now been set back. There was no additional information as to why the hearing was pushed.

Washington is facing charges of possession of child pornography after being accused of keeping and sending a video of his ex-girlfriend with the message “remember this hoe [sic].” The video was taken while Washington’s ex-girlfriend was a minor.

Head coach Scott Frost said previously that Washington will continue to play until after his case is resolved.
