Missouri native Travis Vokolek announced Tuesday afternoon via Twitter that he will be transferring to Nebraska and joining the Huskers in their 2019-2020 season.
The 6-foot-6, 250 pound tight end formerly played for Rutgers University during the 2019 season, due to a required break this year. After various visits to schools including Iowa and Kansas State, he chose to transfer to Nebraska.
According to Sports Reference, Vokolek boasted 16 receptions, 198 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2018. During the early 2000s, his father worked with the current Nebraska quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco at Northern Iowa, thus resulting in a pre-existing connection with Nebraska.
The latest addition comes to Nebraska after freshman tight end Chris Hickman was added during the 2019 recruiting cycle along with other various redshirt players. Vokolek has two more seasons of eligibility.
