Nebraska's Hannah Werth was named the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year, and three of her teammates were named to the league's first team roster.
Werth was also named the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team and was the only freshman to make two teams. She averaged a team-high 3.18 kills, 3 digs per set and led all newcomers in the conference with 3.77 points per match and 3.38 kills per match. Werth is on pace to lead the team in kills and become the first freshman since 2004 to do so for Nebraska. She was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week five times this season.
But the Husker veterans also earned their fair share of hardware on Monday.
Senior Kori Cooper, junior Sydney Anderson and sophomore Brooke Delano represent Nebraska on the conference's first team. Cooper earned her second straight All-Big 12 award after hitting a conference-best .400 in league play, and she scored at least 10 kills in six matches against conference foes. The senior hit .400 or better in half of her 18 Big 12 contests.
As the setter for the Huskers, Anderson ranked second in the league in assists. Anderson had 50 or more assists in five matches and averaged 11.47 assists, 0.77 kills and 2.49 digs per set. Delano earned her honor in just her first year as a starter. Delano was the only conference underclassman to rank in the top 10 in hitting percentage and blocks. She averaged 1.18 blocks and 2.32 kills per set.
Nebraska libero Kayla Banwarth was also named to the conference's All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team.
The Huskers will stay at home this Friday for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Nebraska hosts Coastal Carolina at the NU Coliseum Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
