Nebraska Athletic Department officials confirmed on Sunday that senior defensive end Barry Turner has broken a bone in his leg, an injury that will likely end his season.
Turner was hurt very early in Saturday's game while he defended a run play.
NU Head Coach Bo Pelini called Turner's injury "significant" during Saturday's post-game press conference.
Sophomore defensive end Pierre Allen replaced Turner and eventually led Nebraska with a career-high 10 tackles and a pass breakup.
There's no word as to who will serve as Allen's backup, but there is speculation that senior defensive end Clayton Sievers would be the top reserve, even though he's listed behind fellow senior Zach Potter.
The 6-3, 265-pound lineman's injury deals a blow to the Husker defensive line, as Turner was one of the line's four returning starters this year.
Turner had 29 tackles and three sacks in 2007. He also tallied seven quarterback hurries and started in 11 of Nebraska's 12 games.
