LINCOLN- The Nebraska Cornhuskers rode a balanced offensive attack to a 49-3 victory over Florida Atlantic University on Saturday night.
The Husker offense finished with 490 yards of total offense.
Nebraska struck through the air twice in the first half. Quarterback Zac Lee, making his first start for the Huskers, found wide receiver Menelik Holt, who spun free of defenders and scored the game's first touchdown.
In the second quarter, Lee hit a streaking Curenski Gillylen for a 51-yard touchdown, putting the Huskers up 14-0.
Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini was satisfied with Lee's debut.
"I thought he played outstanding," Pelini said. "He made good decisions."
The quarterback finished the night with 213 yards and two touchdowns on 15 completions.
After halftime, the Huskers came out and established the running game.
Running back Roy Helu Jr. paced the team with 152 yards and three touchdowns. He earned 95 of those yards after the break.
Helu broke a 44-yard touchdown run down the right side of the field outrunning the FAU defensive backs halfway through the third quarter.
Helu's run didn't surprise Pelini.
