One of the most important buildings on campus is the Nebraska Union. The union is not only a sanctuary for off-campus students with nowhere else to go between classes, but it also has many amenities for all students, including places to eat, student services and study areas.
Following is a list of everything the union offers, with a description of where the service is located and what it provides.
PLACES TO EAT
Keep in mind that many of these locations do not accept credit or debit cards, so make sure you have your NCard or cash with you!
Runza: A Nebraska favorite, most famous for its Runza sandwiches and burgers, located in the main food court.
Imperial Palace: Located in the main food court, it serves Chinese food.
NU Market: Sells prepackaged sandwiches and salads, as well as snack foods, drinks and a selection of hot food. Located on the northwest corner of Runza.
Sbarro: Serves pizza and other Italian foods, located in the main food court.
Planet Sub: Located in the main food court, Planet Sub serves … you know … subs.
Caffina Cafe: For all you coffee drinkers, this is the place to go. It also serves teas, hot chocolate and smoothies. Located in the main lounge/study area of the union, in the northwest corner.
Vending Machines: Located near the south doors of the union.
UNL Dairy Store: Located next to Caffina Cafe, the Dairy Store serves ice cream and recently began serving lunch items, including pre-made salads.
Microwaves: For those of you who prefer to bring your own food to eat in the union, there are a few microwaves for students' convenience, with one just south of Runza and one by the vending machines.
STUDENT SERVICES
Information Desk: The Information Desk is located near the north doors of the union. If you need help finding anything, just stop by the information desk and ask for directions. They also sell snacks and drinks, as well as providing bus schedules and the lost and found.
Laptop Checkout: Students may check out a laptop for up to one week at the laptop checkout center next to the copy center.
Career Services: Located on the second floor of the union, Career Services helps students with a variety of tools, including mock interviews, career counselors, internships, UCARE grants and help with resumes.
Computer Lab: All UNL students are allowed to use the 24/7 computer lab in the union, located on the west side of first floor.
Copy Center/NCard Services: Next to the computer lab, in Room 121, is the copy center and NCard services area. Here, you can make copies, get an NCard, or apply for a passport.
Rec Room/Video Arcade: In the basement of the union, the video arcade and recreation center is a great place to relax and take a break from studying.
Association of Students of the University of Nebraska (ASUN): ASUN offices are also located in the union, in the southwest corner of the first floor, which houses the student government.
University Program Council (UPC): UPC is located on the first floor of the union and is responsible for coordinating co-curricular events, activities and entertainment funded by student fees.
UNL Computer Store: In the basement of the union, the Computer Store fulfills all of your technical needs, including software, printers, flash drives and other accessories.
University Bookstore: Located in the basement of the union, the University Bookstore is where you can buy all your textbooks and school supplies, as well as Husker merchandise, CDs and magazines.
Student Involvement: Located on the second floor, Student Involvement contains the offices of Recognized Student Organizations (RSO), peer advising, leadership development, LGBTQA offices and Gender Programs.
Student Organization Financial Services (SOFS): SOFS is the bank for Recognized Student Organizations and is located on the second floor of the union.
Daily Nebraskan: With offices located in the basement of the union, the Daily Nebraskan is UNL's student newspaper.
Greek Affairs: The Greek Affairs center on the third floor of the union is where you can go to get information about anything related to the greek system. They have information on recruitment, as well as philanthropy and events put on by greek members.
Women's Center: On the third floor, the Women's Center provides counseling, workshops and resources on gender issues.
OTHER SERVICES
Wells Fargo Bank: Many students take advantage of the easy access of this Wells Fargo branch, located near the south doors of the union.
Study Areas: There are many places throughout the union for students to study. The main study area is located in the northwest corner of the union. Students can also study in the Crib, located between the south doors and Runza, or in the food court.
