The Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, stands in firm support of the statements issued by President Bounds, Chancellor Green, and Regent Schroeder on behalf of this proud institution. We also fully support the actions of our students in their choice to voice their opinion in a peaceful and respectful manner. While some may disagree with their opinion, their fundamental right to free speech is beyond dispute. The actions of DaiShon Neal, Michael Rose-Ivey, and Mohamed Barry were public, courageous, and in keeping with the ideals of polite political discourse. We would hope that all who choose to express their opinions, in agreement or disagreement, would do so in as dignified a manner.
