University of Nebraska-Lincoln students love Buffalo Wild Wings. They love "B-Dubs" even more when they can buy six wings and get six free, simply by opening a Web browser and visiting aroundcampus.com.
Aroundcampus.com offers coupons and deals to college students at more than 240 universities across the United States. To access deals, students simply find their school, browse local businesses and print off coupons, saving big bucks. The website, a division of University Directories, LLC, is the nation's largest source of online coupons for college students, according to the site.
Aroundcampus.com coupons can be printed out, posted on Facebook, shared through e-mail and sent to cell phones through text messages. Its convenience makes aroundcampus.com an asset to students, including freshman broadcasting major Jaime Howell.
"I like the fact that it offers all sorts of deals for local businesses," Howell said. "I believe it can help students save money and live better lives."
Aroundcampus.com director Steve Balduino said students don't need to attend a certain university in order to use the coupons offered.
"That means that if you're planning a road trip to visit a friend at a nearby university, chances are good that you'll be able to save money when you get there by checking AroundCampus.com," Balduino said.
Some businesses currently offering deals in Lincoln include Godfather's Pizza, Huskers Authentic, Mr. Goodcents Subs & Pastas and The Post & Nickel, among others. Frequent users can sign up for e-mail notifications to receive information and updates.
Nearly 700 college students nationwide choose which coupons to include. With that input, graphic designers, programmers and regional sales managers run the website.
"In some ways it's empowering because you know that a peer brokered the best local deals they could for the campus," Balduino said.
He mentioned the site is looking for summer interns with a liberal arts education and an interest in business. The interviewing process begins this January.
"It is a challenging internship but you'll experience print, online and mobile marketing in one summer internship," he said.
The site offers deals at 43 Lincoln businesses, as well as in Omaha and Kearney.
