Spring breakers often rush the beaches and get out of Lincoln Nebraskas cold weather and this year may be the best time to do that.
"With the current state of the economy and number of job cuts there has been a lower demand for vacationers," Travelocity senior editor, Genevieve Shaw-Brown said.
Customers are saving an average of $40.00 or around 18 percent compared to this time last year. Shaw-Brown said that because of the low demand for flights, it is easier to book a flight and save money too.
"The cost of fuel is also significantly down from last year so it is a good time to get away on vacation," Shaw-Brown said.
Travelocity tips for finding the cheapest flights include traveling between Tuesday- Thursday and booking travel to less popular and less expensive spring break destinations.
Hotels have also seen the shift in business due to the economy. Shaw-Brown siad that hotel packages are also cheaper this year.
"We still don't know about summer travel, but there is a good chancce that consumers will save money compared to last year," Shaw-Brown said.
