A head-on collision left two vehicles in flames Tuesday afternoon near the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

At about 3:30 p.m., Lincoln Fire and Rescue and the Lincoln Police Department responded to the crash on Salt Creek Roadway between 10th and 14th Streets. The crash occurred after the driver of a Chevrolet Scottsdale pickup truck crossed over a median and struck the other vehicle, a Ford Taurus. According to LPD Captain Danny Reitan, officers were already on the scene and had witnessed the accident. Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles. The owner of the Taurus was sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and the owner of the pickup declined medical treatment.

The accident is still under investigation.
