Three policemen arrested a homeless Lincoln man after receiving reports of him sleeping in a Nebraska Union bathroom and discovering there was a warrant out for his arrest.
Welcome desk ambassador Jack Nibert said the desk’s employees had received complaints about a man lying down in the first floor restroom around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30. After a manager helped him up, the man wandered to a lower level bathroom and laid in a stall.
An employee at the welcome desk then called the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department to help the man. According to Sgt. Jonathan Sears, police arrived at the scene at 6:25 p.m. and discovered the man had two active warrants for trespassing.
The man was intoxicated at the time of his arrest. Sears said the man is being lodged in the county jail.
