A wooden board is placed over the bottom of one of the Alpha Tau Omega windows on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln police arrested a UNL student after he threw a two-by-four through a window of the Alpha Tau Omega UNL chapter’s house on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The incident occurred between 12 and 1:30 a.m. on Saturday and was reported later that morning, according to the UNLPD Daily Crime & Fire Log. UNLPD officer Russ Johnson said witnesses knew the student and gave his name to UNLPD officers, who then contacted the student.

Johnson said the student admitted to the crime and was arrested and cited for criminal mischief before being released. He said the student will have a court date where a judge will decide on further action.

The incident resulted in a shattered window, chipped coffee table and ruined blinds, Johnson said. UNLPD is waiting for an estimate on how much the damage will cost.
