Vandal arrested
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police arrested 33-year old Brian Mihulka on Saturday for January incidents of vandalism on the UNL campus, said Asst. Chief Carl Oestmann.
Mihulka was lodged at the Lancaster County Jail for several felonies, and cited and released for 28 misdemeanors from incidents spanning from 2008 into 2009.
The charges against Mihulka include shattering windows at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery and the Lied Center for Performing Arts and slashing university vehicle tires.
UNLPD estimates the damage to UNL property caused by these crimes to be around $62,000, Oestmann said.
Oestmann said video surveillance contributed to the arrest, along with "continual working" of these cases and "very good follow up investigations" that allowed UNLPD to make the arrest.
Four cited for alcohol violation
At 2:43 a.m. Saturday, UNLPD received a report of people consuming alcohol near the Animal Sciences Building on East Campus.
After responding to the report, an officer found four UNL students, Ben Wilson and Brett Rudolph, freshman and sophomore agricultural economics majors respectively, David Jobman, a sophomore mechanized systems management major, and Jessica Edgar, a sophomore fisheries and wildlife major, and discovered beer close by.
Wilson was cited for minor in possession of alcohol, while the other three were ticketed for MIP by consumption, police said.
