Corrections expert cancels UNL lecture
Greg Newbold has canceled his criminal justice lecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The lecture was scheduled for Nov. 21
Newbold is a professor and sociologist, as well a New Zealand corrections expert. The lecture will not be rescheduled.
UNL awards scholarship money to high school mathletes
Some of the high school students competing in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Math Day last Thursday left campus that day with scholarship money.
UNL awarded $34,000 in individual scholarships, ranging from $2,000 to the top prize of $8,000.
During Math Day, more than 1,500 high school students competed in individual competitions and team contests. The day allowed students to learn about UNL's math program and explore the campus.
UNL seeks submissions of artwork from staff
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln hopes to exhibit the artwork of faculty and staff.
The Nebraska Union Rotunda Gallery will host its sixth annual UNL staff art show from April 2 to 13, 2012. All staff members can contact Valerie Bender at 402-472-2887 if interested in submitting artwork.
Ross offers reduced-price memberships for faculty, staff
University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty and staff can buy first-time memberships for the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center at a reduced rate.
UNL employees can purchase individual or family memberships. They must be purchased during the "Friends of the Ross" fall membership drive, which ends Dec. 10.
Faculty and staff members interested in purchasing a membership can visit http://www.theross.org to download a membership form.
Newly completed agricultural education center dedicated Friday
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture dedicated the Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center Nov. 18.
Construction of the center began in Curtis, Neb. in October of 2010. The center will house new specialty programs to encourage students to return to their hometowns and farms.
