TURNER: 'Inconvenient Truth' spouts global warming lies

For the last couple of years we've been told to "go green," "save the Earth" and not leave a "carbon footprint." Why are we subjected to this from information that has no factual background?

Global warming is a hot button today in the news and topics discussed, but here is a shocker for you all: global warming is fake.

Al Gore is a leader in misinformation about global warming, and the release of his film "An Inconvenient Truth" was the height of the global warming scare.

Last October, the United Kingdom made a judgment on whether climate change should be taught in school as real science. A teacher was going to show "An Inconvenient Truth" in class. One parent opposed, saying he didn't want his daughter to believe in global warming when he believed there was no factual evidence of it. He sued the school, and the trial judge found 11 errors in the film.

One error they found was that the melting snow on Mount Kilimanjaro was not necessarily caused by global warming but could be attributed to a number of other factors. Another major point in the film was that polar bears were drowning from swimming to find ice, but the bears discussed in this part of the movie had actually drowned from a violent storm.

The film also made the non-factual argument that the Gulf Stream to Europe will stop and cause an ice age, but the judge found that to be an impossible. Melting ice will cause sea levels to rise, but if the Greenland ice sheets were to melt, then it would take over 100 years to disperse into the sea - not in the near future, as Al Gore said.

It is true that the Earth's temperature has increased over the last hundred years by about .74 degrees Celsius. However, it is normal for the Earth's temperature to rise between glacial periods.

The media doesn't tell you this. The media just tells you polar bears are becoming cannibals, hedgehogs are losing their spines and hornets are living longer. This is the same media that suggested global warming in 1935 and portrayed a global cooling scare in the 1924 and 1975. So in the last 80 years, the Earth has gotten cooler, then warmer, then cooler and finally warmer.

Isn't that just what we like to call climate?

I don't give Gore much credibility. However, I do give NASA credibility. See attached:

I understand that many people don't believe in global warming- as I have had many conversations with non-believers. However, even if you don't endorse the idea- then the least you can do is be more energy efficient and conserve resources! Americans are wasteful- probably one of the worst in the world. Anti-Believer, this document is also from DailyTech and is more recent:

"DailyTech has previously covered the frantic pace of melt in Greenland, which is accelerating, dumping vast amounts of water into the sea. (Continued…)

Mr Turner clearly does not understand the science behind climate research. He should consider taking an appropriate science course to gain some background instead of just parroting the various websites that downplay the human impacts on global climate. (Continued…)

Judge Burton in his ruling believed that the movie builds a "powerful" case that global warming is caused by humans and that urgent means are needed to counter it. (Continued…)

Maybe John Turner should run an opinion poll to test whether what he said is true. Polls are easy, and he still doesn't need to know what a "fact" is. (Continued…)

Global warming or not, it is everyone's job to be a good custodian of the planet. The human race is charged with ensuring its survival. If we continue abusing the planet, it will surely decompose around us. (Continued…)

Sociology, philosophy and other non-hard science professor's OPINIONS make NO statement about studied chemical FACTS. That "survey" you cite is the opinion of these people. (Continued…)

Dear John Turner,

I believe it is against DN policy to comment on your own article.

You say you need two sources to back up your article? I don't see any sources cited in your article. (Continued…)
