Before I begin, let me note this article addresses the theory of evolution, which is a fairly vague term. In this article, "evolution" will be used in a broad sense to refer to the theory that claims that all species arose from less complex ones via a process of small biological changes and that life originated naturally and completely randomly, i.e. with no help from an intelligent creator. Gov. Dave Heineman's office suspended a few principles of press freedom on Thursday when it banned Daily Nebraskan reporters from attending the governor's press conferences at the State Capitol. The good news is the suspension was brief, given that it was unconstitutional and stirred up a controversy the governor's office desperately wished to avoid. (0) comments

I was dismayed to read the leading story of Thursday's Daily Nebraskan about Timothy Haverkamp ("Under the Radar," Thursday). It seemed to me to be just the sort of irresponsible journalism that this country does not need. While I cannot pretend to know Miss Albin's motives in writing the piece, it seems to me to be just the sort of article tailor-made to damage a human being's life. (0) comments
