The Huskers lost 56-14 to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Nov. 24, 2017, at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Twenty one seniors on the Husker football team, including captains Chris Weber, Joshua Kalu and Luke McNitt, were honored before the game started. Stanley Morgan Jr. scored two touchdowns in the first half of the game and broke the school record for single-season receiving yards. Morgan Jr. broke Johnny Rodgers' 1972 record of 942 yards by finishing the game against University of Iowa with 986 yards. Both teams were tied 14-14 in the first half but the Hawkeyes scored six touchdowns in the second half to defeat the Huskers. Nebraska ended their 2017 season with a 4-8 record.
