In the first home game of the 2020 season, Nebraska (0-2) took to the field to face off against the Penn State Nittany Lions (0-3) at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Per Big Ten protocol, the game was held without fans in the stadium due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The only people allowed to attend in person are the families of the players on the teams. In place of fans, cardboard cutouts with fan-submitted pictures were placed in different sections of the stadium. After a dominant first half, Nebraska held off a Penn State comeback to win the matchup 30-23. Nebraska moves on with a 1-2 record on the season and will face off in the second home game of the season against Illinois on Saturday, Nov. 21.
