With everything that’s been going on at Kansas with the Mark Mangino situation, let’s hope that we never have that same problem here with Bo Pelini. It’s a help that Tom Osborne is the current athletic director. So LeBron James suffered an injury while dunking too hard? Whatever. I want him to keep dunking. We want to see entertainment out of these pro athletes. We want to see jaw-dropping moves that will get us out of our seats and will get us to come to these games. And what a night it was in the life of 26 year old Brandon Weeden of Edmond, Okla. With Oklahoma State struggling without Zac Robinson tonight, Weeden stepped in and went 10 of 15 for 165 yards and two touchdowns to rally the Cowboys past...Random Musings for Nov. 18, 2009

I’m surprised about Nebraska being a favorite as high as 17 points this week. I think they should be favored but maybe not that big. Say, 10 to 12 or so. The good news for this week is that NU is coming off its best game of the year. The Indiana Pacers’ NBA season just hit rock bottom – they lost to the Knicks tonight, AT HOME. It goes from bad to worse for the Denver Broncos. First they lose three straight including an embarrassing loss to Washington, and now Kyle Orton is trying to convince coaches to play Sunday. Now they’re staring down the prospect of Chris Simms starting a huge game. Uh oh....Random Musings for Nov. 10, 2009

I’ll eat my crow right here and now. I really thought Denver would win last night. Credit goes to the defending Super Bowl champions for stepping up in the second half and picking up this key win. It seems that Richard Jefferson has given the San Antonio Spurs a necessary spark early this NBA season. He is already the second leading scorer on their team and has given them another offensive weapon to go along with Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. Now the question for the Spurs is this: Can Manu stay healthy? If he can, the Spurs might just win their fifth title in the last 12 years. Larry Johnson is now gone from the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, it’s about where he goes from here. I saw David Max’s...Random Thoughts for Nov. 9, 2009

I know a lot of people are giving props to Matt O’Hanlon today for his performance against Oklahoma, and how he redeemed himself for the late-game debacle at Virginia Tech. But let’s not forget some other heroes, such as Prince Amukamara and Philip Dillard. After all, it was Amukamara’s pick that set up the game’s only touchdown, and Dillard had a monster game. I know everyone’s already looking towards the Indianapolis/New/England Sunday night NFL showdown next week – undefeated Colts vs the Patriots. You ask for my prediction? I’ve got the Colts at home. I think Peyton Manning is too good. As far as tonight, I like Denver tonight over Pittsburgh. They’re at home, and they are looking to...Random Musings for Nov. 5, 2009

So Virginia Tech wins tonight against East Carolina – that was good to see. East Carolina’s not a bad team. Maybe this will help Virginia Tech get some confidence back. The very fact that Brandon Spikes had to “suspend” himself for all of Florida’s next game does not speak well for the University of Florida or Urban Meyer. The only thing that has turned into is a slap on the wrist. It’s good to see Yankees manager Joe Girardi stay humble in victory. In case anyone missed it, Girardi pulled over to help a woman in suburban New York around 1:30 a.m. For as much as a whole lot of people dislike the Yankees, they do have some likeable players on that team. My wondering is though, what happened to cause...
