Just a quick thank you to everyone who has read my blog the last couple of years and has helped the Daily Nebraskan keep this blog up and running. I have some final thoughts in a column which will appear Monday, but thanks to everyone I have been in contact with over the last six years and in this blog.

Memphis Grizzlies, take note. That is how you close out a series. While the Los Angeles Lakers screwed around far longer than they needed to with the plucky New Orleans Hornets, eventually they showed they were the better team. Now they can wait for the Dallas/Portland winner (which looks like Dallas right now). Orlando might be getting ready to see déjà vu all over again, as tonight’s Game Six elimination game with the Atlanta Hawks may be the last game they see Dwight Howard. Can you imagine losing Shaq O’Neal and Dwight Howard, both to the same team in the span of 15 years or so? Ouch. As far as the winner of the Miami/Boston series? I’ll take the Celtics in six....NBA Playoffs musings Apr. 26, 2011

After Game Five in Orlando, Fla. tonight, I think it’s safe to say that the Atlanta Hawks face just as much of a must win as the Orlando Magic in Game Six. A loss in Game Six and Game Seven becomes a near-impossible situation.
At least so far, I continue to be impressed by the New Orleans Hornets. That game with the Los Angeles Lakers is right about at halftime with the series tied at two apiece.
A Game Seven between Dallas and Portland, to me, is almost inevitable.

I was happy to see Philadelphia show some pride in Game 4 of their Eastern Conferencer series with the Miami Heat. They’d been embarrassed the first three games and it was good to see them finally stand up in clutch time and avoid the sweep. It’s also big for Boston, who clinched their own sweep in New York today. Now Boston gets rest for their old legs and gets ready to face the Heat most likely in the next round. Oh, and Lakers killer…Jarrett Jack? Really? That series is now tied two games apiece, and I don’t think anyone expected that. At least the Husker baseball team didn’t lose…even if they didn’t play today. And last and certainly not least, I hope everyone had a happy Easter....Musings for Apr. 20, 2011

Very impressed with Kevin Durant and his Oklahoma City Thunder. In a series which I thought would be a dogfight the Thunder are taking control against Denver. Now Denver has to decide whether they want to stay in the series or not. Game 3 is huge. This just in: the Memphis Grizzlies are no fluke and the Spurs are going to need Manu Ginobili to win the series. The Spurs needed everything they had and then some to hold them off tonight. Even though they lost tonight, I’m impressed with the Royals – and with Nebraska’s own Alex Gordon. Things got really bad in the late innings and they could have folded but they scored three in the ninth to make it interesting. And Gordon picked up another RBI tonight, which is No. 14 for him....
