Constant speeders and the need to rule the road

Driving home to South Dakota, I was faced with a curious situation. Moving to the outside of the three lanes on I-80, I was passing two lanes of traffic that included semi trucks, and that stretched nearly bumper to bumper for a number of cars ahead of me. As I steadilly worked my way forward, a car quickly pulled up on my bumper, getting within a car length away from my rear. As I felt the baffling rage of being tailgated to the extreme, I found myself wondering... Why do people driving more than 10 miles an hour over the speed limit think the world should stop for them? I mean seriously, when you are bordering on reckless driving territory, how do you expect the people already exceeding the speed limit to try and match your ridiculous pace?
