James Vanderslice, 29, is the creator of the amateur college girl pornography site Nebraskacoeds.com. The site features University of Nebraska-Lincoln girls and an array of Midwest party girls, filmed here in Lincoln and in other exotic locations.
The site says that is was started in a dorm room here in Lincoln in 2001, and has been a hub of "flashing, fucking, drinking and partying" for nine years. The Daily Nebraskan was able to catch Vanderslice for an interview, and found out how sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll is done Midwest-style.
Daily Nebraskan: Is James Vanderslice a stage name?
James Vanderslice: That's my real name. Yeah, dude. I do everything with my real name.
DN: Where did you go to school?
JV: I went to school at San Diego State actually. I did school for a little while, then dropped out and started the site. I'm from Lincoln, though, so all my friends went to UNL. So I went to all the parties.
DN: On the site, it says it started from a dorm room. How did the site get started?
JV: I started shooting down in Tijuana actually. In San Diego, you can go across the border when you're 18 and drink in the clubs, so I took my camera down there. I was only in school for a year, then came back to Nebraska. I started the site back then in San Diego, and when I came back to Nebraska, I started shooting again when I went out to the clubs.
I also sold VHS tapes on eBay, and that was the way I started making the most money. But then the Web site started making more money, so I just went with that.
I was on a lot of local news there in Lincoln for a long time.
DN: What is the general concept behind the site?
JV: I mean, it changes. It's always college girls. But sometimes I shoot girls in a hotel room. I shoot a lot of girls that go to UNL. I shoot a lot of girls in my friends' houses back home in Lincoln and in my old apartment in Lincoln. But I've since moved here to Tampa about a year ago. But I still go back and shoot girls all the time. Girls in Omaha and Des Moines and in Council Bluffs, also.
DN: Nebraska Coeds is amateur, correct?
JV: Yes. None of the girls are on anything else. There has been a couple of exceptions just because a couple of the girls we've met have turned into porn stars. A couple we've met at spring break actually, two of them. We randomly met them, shot them, then years later they've turned out to be porn stars. But we were definitely the first ones they ever worked with.
DN: Is the name just because this is where you are originally from?
JV: I would say 80 to 90 percent of all the girls I shoot now are all from Lincoln. Most are from Lincoln that I just fly down (to Tampa). So they get a free vacation, and they make some money down here. And it's way easier to party; they can do more stuff at the clubs here without getting into trouble.
DN: How do you make money from this?
JV: I have a pay-per-view series now. It's on cable and satellite, and it's called Nebraska Coeds. It's a whole TV series that I'm shooting. Every month, I have to come up with another episode. And it will be on Dish Network, too, within the month.
That makes quite a bit. The DVDs are kind of outdated, nobody buys that stuff anymore. The Web site memberships is by far where I make the most money.
DN: How many people are involved in your business?
JV: I have friends that do camera work. I have a couple here in Tampa, and I have three in Lincoln. I have some friends in Lincoln who will shoot girls while I'm not even there. And then I have a recruiter who finds girls for me in Council Bluffs. He travels to Lincoln, too.
DN: What's the most important thing to remember in your business?

"Dear, they're simply saying you fit the profile. You have friends, but no close friends. You claim to have money except you live payday to payday. You don't have a savings or enough on which to retire because you can't keep your life together long enough to make that kind of difference. You don't pay your bills on time because you frequently don't have the money and because you think being past due is a game. You have car insurance long enough to get your vehicle licensed and you don't have health insurance because your health is uninsurable at any price. You have many addictions and issues. Your family spends half their time feeling sorry for you and the other half content that you live a thousand miles away because you won't get help and stick with it. You were probably a youngster with great potential and you've wasted it on activities that are beneath everyone.
Honey, almost everyone that's sober can see right through you. You're about to turn thirty and young girls increasingly see you as "creepy". The day will soon arrive when they will take enough out of your business to make you wish you changed when you still had a few dollars in your pocket because your health is going South as you read this. You are an Alcoholic. It comes with what you are, but you're not beyond help. Make the calls, talk with all the people that will still talk with you because it's not too late for you - yet."
i don't really have an opinion about the website... never seen it. as for the commentary on "james", i believe he's a sham.
