Comedies reign supreme with 2009's fall premiere week beginning tonight. Three must-see comedies are worth tuning into, while only one drama stands the chance of making the always-difficult fall television cut.
Modern Family (ABC)

"Modern Family" is an "Office"-style show starring Ed O'Neill as Jay, a husband and father in this new approach to the typical family comedy. This show reminds me of "Arrested Development," and while it isn't as great as "Arrested Development" (RIP), it might be a good replacement. The documentary-style show follows this extended family: Jay's gay son and his daughter (Julie Bowen) and their extended family. The family is being filmed by a Dutch documentary film for a reality show back in the Netherlands, making this show strikingly similar to the "Office" but with a seemingly new and fresh take. This show is sure to bring a lot of laughs and maybe even a cult following because of its dry, quick-witted humor and delightfully funny writing. A
