The isn't just your average house party with a keg in the basement and cars on the lawn.
The Clawfoot House, home of folksinger/songwriter Ember Schrag, is an up-and-coming music and arts venue in Lincoln.
"It's just the apartment where we live," Schrag said. "It's a cool space, and it just inspired us to do something."
Schrag lives in the venue, a duplex at 11th and F streets, with her boyfriend and two-year-old daughter.
While balancing her full-time job at UNL's Love Library, her family life and her music career, she now runs the venue.
"When I first moved in there, it was just me and my roommate, who was never there, and I had this little baby; not a lot was going on. So, it's really cool to see how everyone has embraced Clawfoot House."
The first official show at Clawfoot House was held in January. When starting off, Schrag booked mostly local acts, she said. Then, they started to book performances from out of town.
"Now people's booking agents are contacting me," she said.
Schrag said the mission of Clawfoot is to bring in really high-quality, relevant performers. They also have a mission to treat artists well.
"We provide a little bit of extra hospitality – we usually all eat dinner together before the show, with a nice clean place for people to stay."
Clawfoot House is held together by the guiding philosophy of promoting the artist before the venue itself.
